Announcing New Project

I’m so excited to announce my first major project, which I will be creating with Mathew Lanning, composer and pianist. While I have recorded and posted video game music on Youtube often, I am incredibly excited to be working with Mathew and to have the opportunity to undertake such a large project.

Our shared interest in the Legend of Zelda led to us choosing the idea for the album. The goal for this project was to follow the journey of different Zelda games, through the music. These will be arranged by Mathew, and then we will both record parts, mix these for final release, and release the album. In addition, we will be releasing a book with sheet music for the songs we recorded.

This project will take place over the next eight weeks, we will start the process of arranging and be ready to record in the next three weeks. Over these next eight weeks we will also be posting weekly updates, with mine located here and Mathew’s located here.

This week, we planned out which songs we would be arranging, the general theme for the album, and discussed goals with each arrangement. We were so excited to start the project, but were also overwhelmed by the amount of music found in the games. It was difficult to just choose a few of our favorite Zelda songs, and try to only pick certain songs to fit our planned theme. We realized this project will be a lot of work, possibly more than we originally thought.

The songs included in the album will be revealed later. We are incredibly excited to be working on this project and are looking forward to sharing more later!
